COURT AWARDS

HCTF receives the money from certain court awards made from fish/wildlife/habitat infractions. Sometimes the funding from these awards is restricted to general or specific locations, species and/or habitats.

A list of available restricted court awards, locations and specific criteria is provided here.

COMPENSATION/OFFSETS

HCTF receives money from certain compensation settlements.  These funds (or offsets) are for conservation activities intended to compensate for unavoidable harm caused by development projects.

A list of available restricted compensation/offset funds, locations and specific criteria is provided here.

How to Apply for Restricted Funding:

If you think you may have a project that fits the requirements of one of the funds described, then:

    • Submit an HCTF enhancement proposal through the regular process by November 2, 2011; and
    • In your submission email, state that you believe your project may qualify for a court award and identify which one from the above list (use the HCTF Court Reference # for Court Awards and the HCTF Comp Reference # for Compensation/Offsets).

Please note, your proposal must still:

    • meet HCTF eligibility criteria; and
    • go through HCTF’s technical and Board review along with other enhancement proposals.

In some cases – and at the HCTF Board’s discretion – projects may be granted funding beyond the value of the restricted funding (i.e., your proposal budget need not be limited to the specific restricted funding amount listed).

If you have any questions or want to discuss an idea for a project, please contact Biological and Evaluation Services.
